Where Science Meets Real-World Impact

Biomedical Science

In the Classroom

The Biomedical Science pathway at Century High School immerses students in the dynamic world of medicine, research, and healthcare through Project Lead The Way’s nationally recognized curriculum. Students explore real-world challenges facing today’s medical and scientific communities, such as disease prevention, diagnostics, genetics, and human body systems, while developing critical thinking, problem-solving, and laboratory skills.

Through hands-on, project-based learning, students engage in activities like analyzing patient case studies, conducting experiments, using industry-standard equipment, and collaborating on research-based solutions. This approach mirrors the work of real biomedical professionals and helps students understand how science directly impacts human health and quality of life.

In addition to technical knowledge, students build essential professional and academic skills including teamwork, communication, data analysis, and scientific writing. By the time they complete the program, participants are prepared for postsecondary pathways in healthcare, biotechnology, public health, research, and related STEM fields.

The Biomedical Science pathway empowers students to become the next generation of healthcare innovators—equipped with the curiosity, confidence, and competence to transform lives through science.

Outside of the Classroom

Biomedical Science students gain real-world exposure through industry site visits, guest speakers, college tours, and hands-on experiences with healthcare and life science professionals. These opportunities help students connect classroom learning to real careers in medicine, research, and biotechnology.

Through simulations, workshops, and community-based learning, students explore a wide range of health and science pathways while building confidence, professionalism, and clarity about their future goals.
